Vedic Mantra Chanting of Jupiter

What does Jupiter represent in Mythology?

Jupiter (Brihaspati) appears in the Rigveda as a sage born from the first great light, the one who drove away from the darkness, is bright and pure, and forms the basis of Dharma. In Sanskrit ‘Brihaspati’ means, " teacher, lord of light, and teacher to the gods”. According to Mahabharata, sage Brihaspati was the son of Angiras. After receiving initial knowledge from his father, Brihaspati left his home in quest for spiritual knowledge and meditated for thousands of years, his penances earned him a place as guru or teacher to the ‘Devas’. His work was to guide Devas and advance their cause by thwarting the designs of the Asuras. He rules over all the four Vedas and associated rituals. Hence if one is following the path of ‘Dharma’, he is always blessed by lord Brihaspati.

Some Puranas note him to be the son of Agni, the fire god. He was noted to be the guru of Gods. He was married to Tara, who was later abducted by Chandra. Tara gave birth to a son from Chandra known as ‘Budha’. Hence Brihaspati is also the step-father of Lord Budha.

The importance of Jupiter in Vedic astrology

In Vedic astrology, the planet Jupiter is called ‘Guru’. If you want to please Jupiter get his blessings, then respect your teachers and Gurus, as well as abstain from meat and alcohol and keep your conduct pure. Guru is the significator of knowledge, teacher, children, elder brother, education, religious work, holy place, wealth, etc. It also signifies ‘Husband’ in women’s chart, hence the blessing of Jupiter is a must for happy married life. As Jupiter also rules over ‘optimism’, strong Jupiter in the chart instills optimism in the native even in darkest moments of life. He imparts the hope to live our life with purpose.

Jupiter is Natural Karaka of 2 nd house (wealth), 5th house (progeny), 9th house (Dharma & religious activities), and 11 th house (fulfillment of desires). Thus, it controls all our material and spiritual desires. It signifies ‘fat’ part of our body, due to which any Jupiter-dominated native gains a lot of weight.

The lord of Sagittarius and Pisces and Cancer is its exalted sign while Capricorn is considered its debilitated sign.

How do we know Jupiter is weak?

If Jupiter is weak in the horoscope, then the person has to face many kinds of troubles. He is not able to earn enough money, he does not get the happiness of married life and he is unable to reach any high position in the job. Your trouble will go on increasing because Jupiter expands with time. Hence immediate remedies are needed for Planet Jupiter.

Diseases are born in the brain but grow in the stomach, so it is very important to have the perfect digestive system. Weak Jupiter makes your stomach and digestive system sick and hence diseases just don’t stop and spread all over the body. Chronic diseases such as Diabetes, sugar, cholesterol, etc are due to the malefic placement of Jupiter in the birth chart. If it is further afflicted by Rahu/ketu, it may lead to diseases like cancer.
