Simha Sankranti marks the day when the sun moves from karka Rashi (Cancer) to simha (leo). Simha sankramn is a significant south Indian festival. The day also marks the day the beginning of the Simha month which is a part of the various solar calendars followed by Indians. This day starts the chinga month as per the Malayalam calendar, Avni month as per Tamil month, and Bhadra month as per the Bengali calendar. Those who have sun placed in the cancer sign in their horoscope are going through the Dasha period of planet sun should get the sun( Surya) puja done. During this puja special mantras of Lord Vishnu are also done. Lord Vishnu, Sun, God, and Lord Narsing are worshiped on the day of Singh Sankranti. Devotees take a holy bath on this day, After which the deities are anointed with coconut water and milk.
