Importance of Haritalika Teej & Fasting story
The festival of Hariyali Teej is celebrated on Shukla Paksha Tritiya in the month of Shravan, this festival is celebrated by women. In Sawan, when the whole nature is cleansed with green sheets, then at that time the minds of women start dancing peacock, it is considered as Kajari Teej in eastern Uttar Pradesh. This fast is very important for married women, the festival of faith, enthusiasm, beauty and love is recognized to commemorate the reunion of Shiva-Parvati, and due to the greenery all around, it is called Hariyali Teej. It is said that on this day Goddess Parvati met Lord Shiva after hundreds of years of meditation. And it is also said that Mother Parvati took birth 107 times to get Lord Shiva as her husband, yet the mother could get Lord Shiva as her husband. When the mother took birth 108 times, then on the Shukla Paksha Tritiya of the month of Shravan, Lord Shiva received her as her husband.
Mythological belief
That's when this fast started, on this occasion, women who worship Shiva and Parvati after doing sixteen adornments, their honeymoon remains for a long time. At the same time, at the behest of Goddess Parvati, Shiva gave the blessing that any unmarried girls who keep this fast and worship Shivparvati with all their heart, then the obstacles in their marriage will be removed and a suitable groom will be obtained. Since then, virgin girls and married women keep this fast for the long life and suitable groom of their husbands. Shiva ji says - O Parvati, a long time ago I had done severe penance on the Himalayas to get me as a bridegroom. During this, you had spent the days giving up food and chewing dry leaves. You did penance continuously, regardless of any weather, and seeing your condition your father was very sad. In such a situation, Narad Ji should come to your house. When your father asked Narad Ji the reason for his coming, he said, O Giriraj, I have come here on sending Lord Vishnu, pleased with the severe penance of your daughter, he wants to marry her, that's what I want to do with you. I want to know your opinion. After listening to Narad ji, Parvatraj said with great pleasure - O Narad ji, If Lord Vishnu himself wants to marry my daughter, then nothing can be bigger than this. I am ready for this marriage. Then Shiva says to Parvati ji - After getting your father's approval, Narad ji went to Vishnu and narrated this good news, but when you came to know about this, you felt very sad. You had accepted me i.e. Kailasapati Shiva as your husband.Then you told the matter of your troubled mind to your friend, then your style gave you a suggestion that she will hide you by taking you to a dense forest and you stay there and do the sadhana of attaining Shiva. And then when your father did not find you in the house, he started getting worried and he became sad and thought that what would happen if Vishnu ji came with the procession and you were not found at home. And in the search, he got the earth and Hades united but did not get it. You were absorbed inside a cave in the forest. On Bhadrapada third shukla, you worshiped me by making a Shivling out of the sand and being pleased, I fulfilled your wish. After this, you told your father that I have spent a long time of my life, Lord Shiva has accepted me after being pleased with my penance. Then the mother placed a condition with the father when You will get me married to Lord Shiva only then I will go with you. The mountain king accepted your wish and took you back home. And after some time, he married us with full law. Lord Shiva said, O Parvati Tritiya, the fast that you had done by worshiping me, as a result, the marriage of both of us became possible.
