Devshayani Ekadashi

Ekadashi Fasting holds an important place in Hinduism. Every year there 24 Ekadashi when the mlamas and adhikmas more then there are 26 Ekadashi. Ekadashi of Shukla paksha of Ashadh month is called Devashyani Ekadashi. In our indiya,this date is also Designation, on this day Lord shri Hari Vishnu sleeps in chirsagaer and then after 4 months, when the sun leaves in libra, it is described in our scriptures and Puranas that lord Vishnu from this day till 4 months, the king resides at the gate of Bali, then from there we return to Kartik Shukla Ekadashi and this purpose we also call Prabodhini Ekadashi or Devshayani Ekadashi.

Method of Davshayni Ekadashi

We should sanctify the house with Holy Ganga water from some holy water at the place of worship,then establish the Lord shri Vishnu at the place of God, establish the lord of God in gold , silver and brass. Then worship lord Vishnu with pitambara and Then complete the worship etc.

Significance of Ekadashi.

In the scripture Bhavishyottara Purana, god Krishna narrates significance of shayani Ekadashi to Yudhishthira, as the create god Brahma nattated the significanceto his son narada once. The story of king Mandata is narrated in this context . The pious king’s country had faced drought for three years,but the king was unable to find a solution to please the rain gods.Finally, sage Angiras advised the king to obseve the vrata of Dev-shayani ekadashi.On doing so by the grace of Vishnu, there was rain in the kingdom.
