Sankashti stands for getting free from all the troubles. Sankashti Chaturthi takes place on the fourth day that is called Chaturthi in each month’s Krishna Paksha.
The people from different states celebrated it with all excitement. If you go to the south, you will notice that people observe it with different names as Sankatahara Sathurthi, Sankat Hara Chaturthi, Angraki Chaturthi, and so many.
What significance does Sankashti Chaturthi Vrat have?
This “Vrat” fast holds a huge significance and greater impact on your pooja. Lord Ganesha gets impressed with the people who observe fast on that day and perform pooja with all the rituals and dedication. Lord Ganesha provides peace and prosperity in the life of the devotees and takes away all their problems.

Two Chaturthi are observed according to the Hindu calendar.
Sakat Chaturthi takes place after Poornima or full moon day in Krishna Paksha.
Vinayaka Chaturthi is observed on a new moon day in Shukla Paksha.
What do you need to know about the rituals?
Getting up early and taking a bath to gather at the temple or perform puja at home only. People take fast for the whole day and eat only at night time after the moon rises. Again after taking a bath, Puja of Lord Ganesha is performed with all the mantras and Druva grass. Ganesh Aarti is done in the evening after the pooja, and the Naivedyam Prashad is presented to Ganesha Ji.
Devotees break their fast after worshipping Moon and Brahmins; Pandit Ji was offered food after worshiping Moon. 108 names of Ganesha Ji are recited along with the Ganesha Ashtothram mantra. It is believed that taking fast and worshipping Lord Ganesha brings happiness and fulfills all your desires.
Worshipping Moon has its importance on Sankashti Chaturthi and is considered auspicious. People who cannot see it in the sky can draw it on paper and worship with dedication, and offer flowers and a paste prepared from sandalwood.
